Family lived in Galveston or Houston, Texas for awhile when Fern and Leroy were children. Train wreck back from Texas. Tornado ruined the farm and barn and they were on way home--Bertha, Leroy, Fern. Lee stayed there awhile.Moved to Granite City about 1936.
Dad was told that when his mother died his father didn't come down from the attic for three days.
A school teacher. Finley had a saloon at 18th and Edison. Had lots of roomers. Lee and Bertha lived next door. They lived in Galveston (or Houston?) Texas for awhile when Fern and Leroy were children. Aunt Ida had Willard and Iola at her house when Bertha died. Iola was unhappy she couldnt' go to school and Willard said, "But our mother died!"
